Yash Rashiya Wins Roll Ball World Cup Gold

Yash Anil Rashiya, a 20-year-old Roll Ball athlete from Surat, has emerged as a notable Indian sporting talent after helping Team India win gold at the 7th Roll Ball World Cup 2025 in Dubai. His decisive performances in the tournament played a major role in India’s title-winning campaign and brought fresh attention to Roll Ball in India. The victory also placed Surat on the international sports map.

India’s World Cup Triumph

India won the Roll Ball World Cup against strong international competition. Rashiya was among 12 elite players selected to represent the country. He contributed in every key stage of the campaign and scored the match-winning goal in the final against Kenya.

Key Performances in Dubai

Rashiya delivered consistent attacking displays throughout the tournament. His notable contributions included:

  • Two goals against Saudi Arabia in the league stage.
  • Two goals against Brazil in the league stage.
  • Two goals against Pakistan in the quarter-final.
  • A crucial goal against Egypt in the semi-final.
  • The winning goal against Kenya in the final.

Rise from Surat to the World Stage

Born and raised in Surat, Rashiya began as a skater in 2009. He shifted to Roll Ball in 2017 under coach Jaimin Bharat Patel. Within six months, he represented Gujarat at the Sub-Junior National Championship in Panjim, Goa. He later played in multiple Senior National Championships and competed in 18 states and 17 national-level tournaments.

Recognition and Sporting Significance

Rashiya’s achievements include a gold medal at the All India University Roll Ball Championship and silver medals at the 22nd Senior National Championship in Indore and the 5th Roll Ball Federation Cup in Jharkhand in 2025. He received strong family support throughout his career. His success marks the growth of Roll Ball, a sport combining skating, handball, and basketball skills, and shows the rise of grassroots athletes from emerging cities.
