Zebrafish

The zebrafish is a freshwater fish that is native to South Asia. Because of its regenerative capabilities, it is a key vertebrate model organism used by researchers for drug development, especially for pre-clinical development. A new study revealed that this fish’s hibernating habits can help researchers understand how an induced torpor (a form of hibernation) can help protect humans against challenges like radiation exposure, bone and muscle wastage and other such issues.
