The recently concluded 12th Edition of Exercise Agni Warrior has put the focus back on the military cooperation between Singapore and the Indian Army. The bilateral exercise was held at the Field Firing Ranges in Maharashtra, India.
About Exercise Agni Warrior
Exercise Agni Warrior is a bilateral initiative involving the Singapore and Indian army. Its 12th edition, held in Maharashtra, successfully highlighted joint firepower planning. During the exercise, the Artillery arm of both armies demonstrated the use of new generation equipment, reinforcing their military prowess.
The program also accommodated a joint computer war game, which served as part of the joint planning process. This activity signified the commitment of the two countries in enhancing their defense capabilities through modern techniques and technological advancements.
The exercise also led to conducting expert academic discussions. These were centered around the modern trends in Artillery and the refinement of the Artillery planning process. The aim was not only to update the involved personnel with evolving techniques but also to work together towards enhancing them.
The overarching goal of Exercise Agni Warrior was to enhance mutual understanding of drills & procedures. By doing so, it aimed at improving interoperability between the two armies. Judging by the successful execution of the exercise, it can be said that the aim was achieved.
Other Exercises between Singapore and India
The defense ties between India and Singapore are not limited to Exercise Agni Warrior alone. Both nations have been cooperating on multiple fronts to fortify their defense strategies and forces.
The Bold Kurukshetra exercise, for instance, is a significant initiative involving both the armies. It primarily focuses on enhancing the joint military operations and drills of the two nations.
Similarly, Joint Military Training takes the collaboration to the skies. It involves the Air Force of both countries, and aims to heighten their air defense capabilities.
In addition to this, the two nations also participate in the Trilateral Maritime Exercise SIMTEX with Thailand. This encourages the development of maritime defense strategies and strengthens the naval cooperation among the three nations.
In each of these exercises, the participating nations work towards a mutual goal – to enhance their defense capabilities, share knowledge, and ensure collective security.
