White-bellied heron

White-bellied heron is a species of large heron found areas ranging from foothills of the eastern Himalayas in India and Bhutan to the northeastern Bangladesh and Myanmar. Mostly found in undisturbed riverside and wetland habitats, it currently belongs to the Critically Endangered category of the IUCN Red List. It was recently sighted in Walong in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh. This is the first time to spot this bird at a higher elevation in India.
