A bus carrying British tourists crashed into a ravine on the Spanish island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands, leaving one man dead and 27 others injured. The accident occurred on the GM-2 highway near San Sebastián de La Gomera after the vehicle reportedly lost control at a bend and slid down a slope. The bus was on its way to a boat tour when the crash took place.

Crash Details

The accident happened around 1.15 pm local time on Friday. The bus veered off a mountain road and fell into a ravine. The impact was severe, and the vehicle came to rest off the road in a steep area. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the crash.

  • Twenty-seven people were injured, including the driver.
  • Several passengers suffered serious injuries.

The British embassy in Madrid said it was aware of the incident and ready to assist affected nationals.

Spanish police have opened an investigation into the crash. Possible factors under review include road conditions, driver error and mechanical failure. The GM-2 road has witnessed serious accidents earlier as well, raising concerns about road safety on the route.
