On 15 June 2026 Bihar’s Integrated Aqua Park in Bhojpur (₹31.21 crore) was sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and an NFDB regional centre was inaugurated in Patna.

Integrated Aqua Park — Bhojpur

  • Location: Vanasaur Fish Seed Farm, Nawadaben Panchayat, Udawantnagar block, Bhojpur district.
  • Project cost & scheme: ₹31.21 crore sanctioned under PMMSY.
  • Infrastructure: Carp and striped catfish hatcheries, biofloc tanks, Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS) units, fish feed manufacturing, diagnostic laboratory and quarantine facilities, 50‑bed residential training hostel.
  • Operational intent: Improve availability of quality seed, demonstrate modern culture systems and provide residential training facilities for farmers and technicians.

NFDB Regional Centre — Patna

  • Role: Knowledge and institutional hub for Bihar and eastern states for technical assistance, scheme convergence, capacity building and field implementation support.
  • Technology focus: Promotion and handholding for biofloc, RAS, cage culture and precision aquaculture; continuous technical assistance to fishers and entrepreneurs.

Sectoral Data & Trends

  • Production growth: Inland fish production rose from 3.18 lakh tonnes (2005) to over 10.2 lakh tonnes (2025); Bihar is the fourth‑largest inland fish producer.
  • Central assistance: Nearly ₹900 crore channelled to Bihar under PMMSY and Blue Revolution in the last decade; about ₹600 crore under PMMSY.
  • Interstate supplies: Bihar supplies roughly 89,600 metric tonnes of fish annually to neighbouring states.
