Land Port Management System

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Land Port Management System (LPMS) on 9 June 2026. This centralized digital platform integrates operations across India’s land ports, creating a unified, technology-driven border management ecosystem. It aims to align land port digital standards with those of Indian airports and seaports. Simultaneously, stakeholder accommodation facilities were inaugurated at Dawki (Meghalaya) and Srimantapur (Tripura).

Key Features and Objectives

  • Digitalization: Automates logistics and regulatory workflows, replacing manual paperwork to reduce transit delays and enhance transparency.
  • Core Modalities: Includes advanced vehicle slot booking, integrated online payments, single-window clearances, and real-time cargo tracking.
  • National Integrations: Interfaces with ICEGATE (Customs), ULIP (Logistics), and the Motor Vehicle Ecosystem for seamless multi-modal data exchange.
  • Security: Replaces traditional gate logs with automated records and integrates with Full Body Truck Scanners to prevent unauthorized entries.

Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI)

  • Status: A statutory body established under the Land Ports Authority of India Act, 2010.
  • Administration: Functions under the Department of Border Management, Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • Mandate: Creates and manages Integrated Check Posts (ICPs). Currently, LPAI operates 15 land ports across international borders with Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Pakistan.
