Aadi Parab Festival Begins in Raipur

A two-day Aadi Parab festival has begun in Raipur, bringing together tribal artists and communities from several states. The event marks tribal culture, heritage, cuisine, costumes, crafts, and traditional art forms. This year’s theme is From Tradition to Identity, reflecting the effort to present tribal traditions as a living cultural identity on a national stage.

Festival Focus and Objective

The festival is being organised to provide a national platform for the rich tribal culture of Chhattisgarh. It aims to showcase the diversity of tribal traditions through performances, exhibitions, and community participation. The event also promotes awareness of tribal heritage among wider audiences.

Participation from Multiple States

Tribal folk artists from Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand are taking part in the festival. Youths dressed in traditional tribal attire walked the ramp, presenting cultural pride and regional identity. Such participation reflects the shared yet diverse nature of tribal traditions across India.

Exhibitions and Cultural Displays

The festival includes exhibitions of traditional cuisine, costumes, and artworks of tribal communities. These displays help preserve and popularise indigenous knowledge systems and cultural practices. They also create opportunities for cultural exchange between different tribal groups.

Tribal Craft and Painting Initiatives

Along with the main festival, ‘Aadi Rang – Tribal Painting Festival’ is being organised.
