Affric Highlands initiative
The Affric Highlands initiative is a 30-year project that aims to rewild a large swathe of the Scottish Highlands stretching between Scotland’s west coast and Loch Ness. It will restore nature across a network of landholdings covering around 500,000 acres of land and increase connected habitats and species diversity.
The project will cover activities such as planting trees, enhancing river corridors, restoring peat bogs and creating nature-friendly practices. It will increase social and economic opportunities for the local communities in a nature-friendly manner. Native wildlife will also benefit from this project.
