Afghan CitizensÂ’ Resettlement Scheme
Afghan CitizensÂ’ Resettlement Scheme was announced by the UK government to allow 5,000 Afghans to settle in the country. The long term objective of this scheme is to bring in a total of 20,000 Afghan refugees from the war-hit country.
The most vulnerable will be given the first priority. These include Afghan women, children and others who were fleeing from persecution by the extremist group. The refugees will be given a chance to remain in Britain indefinitely. It is similar to the 2014 scheme that resettled 20,000 refugees from the conflict-hit Syria.
