AstroSat is the first ISRO mission focusing on astronomy. It was launched in September 2015. It recently completed six years of operation, much beyond the designed life span of 5 years. It is expected to last for some more years.
The data from the satellite was used for researching various fields of astronomy, from galactic to extra galactic, by various users from across the world. The multi-wavelength space observatory has five unique X-ray and ultraviolet telescopes that together had detected a galaxy 9.3 billion light years away from the Earth.
