The first-ever CARICOM-Africa Summit was held on September 7 this year. The event was hosted by Kenya under the theme – “Unity Across Continents and Oceans: Opportunities for Deepening Integration”. It was earlier planned to be held last year but was deferred because of the pandemic.
The summit witnessed the participation of the leaders of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and several African countries. Discussions were held on the possible measures required for promoting unity between the two regions in addressing the current global challenges. The focus areas included blue economy, technology, debt financing and pandemic response.
