CCHFW Conference Focuses on Health Priorities, Infrastructure

Striving to Increase Health Budgets

The first priority centered on increasing health budgets by the Centre and the States/Union territories. As per the National Health Policy of 2017, there is a requirement for collective healthcare spending by the Centre and States/UTs to achieve a target of 2.5% of the GDP by 2025.

Strengthening Medical Infrastructure

The focus also lay upon strengthening medical infrastructure, with specific goals towards achieving Universal Health Coverage through Ayushman Bharat. Simultaneously, efforts were concentrated on addressing National Health Mission agendas and wiping out tuberculosis along with other communicable diseases. The conference brought light to four pillars of healthcare – mission mode interventions, quality, accessible and affordable healthcare services, universal health coverage, and adequate health infrastructure.
