Central Public Works Department
The Central Public Works Department or CPWD under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is responsible for managing the construction and the maintenance of the infrastructure projects that are critical for the well-being of the public, like roads, border fencing, laboratories etc. It was established in the year 1854 during the reign of Lord Dalhousie.
This year, on July 12, CPWD celebrated the 167th foundation day. Virtual event was held to celebrate its long service. On this occasion, the CPWD medals were conferred to the best performing officers of the department.
