Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework

Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework (CSCAF) was initiated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to promote climate responsive development of the urban India. It assess climate relevant parameters focusing on 5 sectors – Energy and Green Buildings, Urban Planning, Green Cover and Biodiversity, Mobility and Air Quality, Water Management and Waste Management.

The CSCAF 2.0 was launched in September last year to provide a comprehensive roadmap focusing on the country’s urban climate actions. It assesses 126 cities, including 100 smart cities and 26 cities with population of more than 500,000. Ahmedabad, Indore, Pimpri Chinchwad, Vadodara etc., are among the top performers in this edition.
