Recently, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in a statement said that the Insurance Regulatory Authority of India (IRDAI) has advised all insurance companies for issuing digital insurance policies via DigiLocker.

DigiLocker
DigiLocker is an initiative under the Digital India programme of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Digilocker aims to minimize or eliminate the use of physical documents.
In the insurance sector, DigiLocker will eliminate customer complaints relating to non-delivery of policy copy, enable faster claims processing and settlement, improve the turnaround time of insurance services, reduction in disputes, improvement in customer contactability, reduction in fraud, drive the reduction in costs, etc.
