Bucharest Nine
Bucharest Nine (B9) is a multilateral alliance involving the eastern-most members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). Its members are former Eastern Bloc countries that were controlled by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. They include Romania, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and three Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. This alliance came into existence because of these countries’ common concern of Russia’s attempts to regain influence over their territories.
