The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, flagged off the MV Ganga Vilas on January 13, 2023, via video conferencing. The event was broadcast live across the nation, and it was a momentous occasion for the entire country. The Prime Minister praised the project, describing it as a “game-changer” in the tourism industry.

Features of MV Ganga Vilas

The MV Ganga Vilas is a luxurious river cruise ship that offers its passengers a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The vessel is 150 meters long and 22 meters wide, with a total of 96 cabins that can accommodate up to 192 passengers. The ship has four decks, with each deck offering different amenities and experiences.

  • The first deck is where the reception and the main restaurant are located. The restaurant serves a variety of regional and international cuisines, and passengers can enjoy their meals while taking in the breathtaking views of the river.
  • The second deck features a bar and a lounge area, where passengers can relax and enjoy a drink while socializing with other guests. The deck also features a library and a movie theater, where passengers can watch movies and documentaries related to the regions they are visiting.
  • The third deck is where the majority of the cabins are located. The cabins are spacious and well-appointed, with large windows that offer panoramic views of the river. Each cabin is equipped with modern amenities such as air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and en suite bathrooms.
  • The fourth and final deck is the sun deck, where passengers can enjoy the sun and the fresh air while taking in the beautiful scenery. The deck also features a swimming pool, a gym, and a spa, where passengers can relax and unwind after a day of sightseeing.

The MV Ganga Vilas offers its passengers an unforgettable journey across 27 river systems in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam, and beyond the Indo-Bangladesh border. The journey covers over 50 destinations, including world heritage sites, national parks, and the River Ghats in key cities like Dhaka, Kolkata, and Patna. Passengers can expect to see the iconic Taj Mahal, the ancient city of Varanasi, the Sundarbans mangrove forest, and many other historical and cultural landmarks. The ship also offers shore excursions and guided tours, where passengers can explore the local markets, visit temples and monasteries, and experience the rich cultural traditions of the region.
