GCWAS 2026 on Women in Agri-Food Systems

The Global Conference on Women in Agri-Food Systems (GCWAS–2026) will be held from 12 to 14 March 2026 at the ICAR Convention Centre, New Delhi. The event will focus on the role of women in agriculture and allied sectors, with an emphasis on policy, inclusion, innovation, and sustainable agri-food systems. It will be inaugurated by the President of India and will bring together participants from India and abroad.

Conference Objective

The conference aims to strengthen policy frameworks and institutional ecosystems that support gender participation in agriculture. It will show the contribution of women farmers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and development professionals in building inclusive and resilient agri-food systems. The event is being held during the UN-declared International Year for Women Farmers in 2026.

Organisers and Participation

  • The conference is jointly organised by TAAS, ICAR, CGIAR, and PPV&FRA.
  • More than 15 national and international bodies are participating as co-organisers and knowledge partners.
  • Over 700 participants are expected, including scientists, policymakers, industry leaders, start-ups, students, and women farmers.
  • The event has support from several sponsors and institutional partners.

  • Interface with Global Women Trailblazers will share success stories of women leaders and scientists.
  • Mainstreaming Gender Equality and Social Inclusion will examine gender-sensitive agricultural policies.
  • Empowering Women through Economic Inclusion will focus on entrepreneurship, finance, and market access.
  • Technology for Transformation will discuss digital tools, climate-smart solutions, and women-friendly technologies.

Expected Outcomes

The conference will host a Women Farmers’ Forum and a Youth Forum to connect grassroots voices with future agri-food leadership. An exhibition will showcase women-oriented technologies, policies, and start-up innovations. The event is expected to produce actionable recommendations, global best practices, and a roadmap for gender-responsive and inclusive agricultural development.
