Goa Liberation Day
December 19 is observed as the Goa Liberation Day. This day marks the independence of Goa from centuries of Portuguese colonisation that lasted for over four centuries. The Indian state of Goa was liberated after Operation Vijay, which was initiated on 18th December 1961. It was a 36-hour long battle aimed at liberating Goa from a 450-year long colonial rule and making it a part of the independent India
