Han Kuang Exercise

Han Kuang Exercise is an annual military exercise conducted by Taiwan to defend itself from the possible invasion by the People’s Republic of China. The 37th edition of this military drill commenced recently. It is held from September 13 to 17 this year. The exercise was originally scheduled to be held in July but as deferred because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The week-long exercise is taking place around the island nation, with the focus on repelling a Chinese invasion, protecting critical infrastructure and night operations. The exercise is held amid the growing assertiveness of Beijing, which considers Taiwan as a sovereign territory of China.
