Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal scheme

Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal (tap water in every home) scheme was launched by the Bihar Government in September 2016 to provide tap water connections to around 2 crore households. This is separate from the 8.44 lakh connections provided under the Central Government’s Jal Jeevan Mission and 2.32 lakh connections under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme.
The scheme seeks to improve public health by providing clean drinking water through taps in urban and rural homes. The scheme provides water two hours each in the morning, afternoon and evening. The work under this scheme is provided to the contractors.
