Hima Kohli: First Woman Chief Justice of Telangana
Justice Hima Kohli has sworn in as the first woman chief justice of Telangana high court on January 8. She was administered oath by the Governor of the state Tamilisai Soundararajan.

- Hima Kohli has joined the Telangana High Court after coming from Delhi high court.
- She started practicing law in the year 1984 and was the Standing Counsel and Legal Advisor to the New Delhi Municipal Council in the Delhi High Court from the year 1999 to 2004.
- In 2006, Kohli was appointed as the additional judge in Delhi High Court, and in the year 2007, she was appointed as a judge in Delhi High Court.
- She is also serving as a member of the governing council at the National Law University.
- Her elevation as the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on 14th December 2020.
- Hima has replaced Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan who has now been transferred to the Jharkhand High Court as the chief justice.
- Justice Arup Kumar Goswami has also sworn in as Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court.
Telangana High Court
It was after the reorganization of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh that the Telangana High Court was formed. In December 2018, a notice was issued for the bifurcation of the Hyderabad High Court into Andhra Pradesh High Court and Telangana High Court. The separate high courts came into existence on January 1, 2019.
