IIT Madras developed “IITM COVID Game” to raise awareness.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has developed “IITM COVID Game” in order to raise awareness on the COVID-19 virus amongst children.


This Game is a browser-based software which can be played on any device. The game has been launched in 12 different Indian languages including Sanskrit, Tamil, Oriya, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese and Punjabi. The game is focused on a character who encounters the right things such as washing hands and wearing masks that are necessary in order to contain the COVID-29 spread. Further, the character encounters the things that needs to be avoided amid the pandemic including hugs and handshakes. The character gets points on every right thing he does. This game is available on IITM website for free of cost.


The Games comprise of the healthy practices and a positive social behaviour which will influence peoples’ action in order to keep themselves and the world safe.

  • The Corona Fighters’ Awareness Video Game: This web-based game was launched by Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan. The game was designed in order to influence the players to use masks and practice healthy eating apart from washing hands regularly.
  • World’s first COVID-19 Game: The world’s first COVID-19 game was launched by a professor at the University of Hertfordshire, Richard Wiseman. The game is titled as “Can You Save the World?”

How GOI is fight against COVID-19?

The government of India (GOI) has taken several measures in order to contain the disease on case by case basis. The ministry is launched several guidelines not only for containing the spread of the diseases but to tackle with the other associated problems as well. For Instance, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recently issued guidelines to manage mental illness amid the COVID-19. To prevent and treat the CPVID-19, AYUSH Standard Treatment Protocol was launched and to study the trends of the virus, Sero Survey is being conducted in phases across the country.  Further, Dr V K Paul Committee was set up which was a National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19. The committee works on vaccine administration, conceptualization and implementation mechanisms for creating digital infrastructure in order to deliver COVID-19 vaccine. GoI have planed to use EVIN for storing the COVID-19 vaccine that will also make the distribution of vaccine easy.
