Intel and Telangana Government to Launch Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Center

On the inaugural session of  “all.ai 2020 Virtual Summit” on October 13, 2020 the Intel India announced the launch of an applied artificial intelligence (AI) research (INAI) center in Hyderabad. The research center would be launch in collaboration with the Telangana government, International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) and Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) which is the founding healthcare partner in the initiative.

What is INAI?

It is an initiative in order to apply Artificial intelligence (AI) to population scale problems in the Indian context. It mainly focus on identifying and solving the challenges in the healthcare and smart mobility segments. The challenges will be dealt through a strong ecosystem collaboration.

Working Mechanism

The center (INAI) will work as a catalyst that will accelerate India’s leadership in AI. It will be done by boosting innovation and entrepreneurship, by creating national assets such as datasets, by computing infrastructure, tools and frameworks. The center would work with an aim to attract global talents in the field of high-impact research for social sector development. This center would be bringing multiple institutions together to work on solutions having societal-scale impact.

Significance

India is focused towards its transformation in the field of AI. So, adoption of technology-led innovations finds its importance to solve the country’s societal challenges in the areas of healthcare and smart mobility.  There is a need to work together in order to support development of technology and its application in an ethical and inclusive manner. In that context, INAI will bring together the broader computing strengths and academic expertise of IIIT-H, the public health expertise of PHFI and the technology leadership and architecture strength of Intel, together. It will also pull other technology players to provide targeted outcomes in technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, international collaboration and the job creation.

Smart Mobility Domain

INAI will boost the research in road safety. AI would be used to reduce road accidents and fatalities in the country.

Public Health

In this field, the INAI would enable solutions to extend health coverage for every individual. It will also advance research for prediction of non-communicable diseases in an efficient and better manner.

 all.ai 2020 Virtual Summit

The all.ai 2020 Virtual Summit is being held from October 12 to 16, 2020. It has been launched by Intel India in collaboration with the industry, academia and government. It seeks to provide an strengthened AI in order to solve problems at population scale. It is mainly focusing on India’s massive potential to develop AI solutions.

AI For Youth Symposium

The all.ai 2020 Virtual Summit also include “AI For Youth Virtual Symposium”. The symposium would enable around 10,000 youth to learn AI readiness skills and witness AI social impact projects.
