The Joint Anti-Terrorist Exercise (JATE)-2021 was launched by the armed personnel of China and Pakistan as part of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure (RATS). Tashkent-headquartered RATS is a permanent organ of the SCO that promotes cooperation in countering terrorism, secessionism and extremism. The objective of this exercise is to practice and excel in various drills and procedures required for countering the threat of terrorism.
The counterterrorism exercise will focus on aspects such as cordon and search, compound clearance, close quarter battle and medical evacuation. The objective of this exercise is to improve interoperability among special services and law enforcement agencies of Shanghai Cooperation Organization nations.
