Kanapus-V satellite is an advanced satellite system that is to be delivered by Russia to Iran to improve the latter’s espionage capabilities. Russia is training Iranian technicians to operate this satellite from a new site near the northern Iranian city of Karaj.
The satellite will be launched in the next few months. It is equipped with a high-resolution camera that will enable Tehran to monitor the facilities of adversary countries in the Middle East. There are concerns regarding the satellite’s data being used by Iran’s proxies operating in Yemen, Iraq and Lebanon.
