What is Kraken Mare?

Kraken Mare is a huge body of liquid ethane and methane located on the surface of Titan, the Saturn’s largest moon. It is located near Titan’s North Pole. It spans 154,000 square miles. Recently, astronomers have estimated that Kraken Mare is at least 1,000 feet deep near its centre. This provides enough space for robotic submarine to explore. Understanding of the depth provides precise insights into Titan’s methane hydrology.
