Lumpy skin disease

Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is an infectious disease affecting buffalo and cattle. It is caused by a capripox virus known as Meethling virus. The symptoms include fever, enlarged superficial lymph nodes and multiple nodules of the skin and mucous membranes. This disease reduces milk yield, causes permanent skin damage, infertility, chronic debility etc. Bihar government recently issued warning and an advisory about the likely spread of the LSD in several districts in the state.
