National Community Radio (CR) Awards

National Community Radio Awards was first introduced in the year 2011-12 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It aims to boost innovation and competition amongst community radio stations, which are critical in spreading public awareness about various government schemes. 327 CRSs are currently operational in various parts of the country. They are under the control of local people, who broadcast news that are of local and national importance.

Seven awards are conferred under the National Community Radio Awards. This year, the 8th National Community Radio Awards were presented. These are Thematic Award, Most Innovative Community Engagement Award, Promoting Local Culture Award and Sustainability Model Award.
