Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme launched by the Indian Government under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. The scheme aims to boost competitiveness of the existing MSMEs in the unorganised segment of the food processing industry by helping them become formalised.
This Rs.10,000 crore scheme will be implemented over a period of 5 years from 2020-21 to 2024-25. It recently marked one year of completion. It seeks to directly assist 2 lakh micro food processing units by providing them with financial, technical and business support required for expanding and upgrading the business.
