Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) is a government scheme that provides for the welfare of communities affected by mining-related operations. Since majority of mining areas in India are inhabited by tribal communities, the scheme mainly focuses on protecting the health, environment and economic conditions of tribals.
The PMKKKY is being implemented by the District Mineral Foundations (DMFs) of the respective districts using the funds allocated for each of them. The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2021, which has been enacted since March this year, empowers the Central Government to direct state governments with regards to the composition and functions of DMF.
