About Jaipur

Founded by the Kachwaha Rajput ruler of Amber, Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727 AD, Jaipur serves as the capital city of Rajasthan. The city, established on plains, was built according to a grid plan inspired by Vedic architecture. The urban planning highlights an exchange of ideas from both ancient Hindu and modern Mughal cultures, along with Western influences.

Acting as a commercial capital, the city has continued to uphold its local commercial, artisanal, and cooperative traditions. Some of the iconic monuments in Jaipur include the Govind Dev temple, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal among others.

Following Ahmedabad, Jaipur is now the second city in India to gain recognition as a World Heritage Site. This recognition serves as an acknowledgement of the city’s exceptional cultural heritage and architectural marvels. It underscores the world’s appreciation for the rich history and unique cultural fabric that Jaipur represents.
