It is capable of undertaking missions like troop transport, air assault, command and control, border patrol, search and rescue, cargo lift and VIP transport. Its maiden flight was successfully conducted in July 2010.
The Philippines has grounded its entire fleet of Black Hawk helicopters after one of the newly acquired aircraft crashed during the night-time training flight, killing everyone on board. The country had ordered 16 of these choppers to replace the aging fleet of Bell UH-1H helicopters.
