Shikshak Parv’ 2021: Honoring Teachers, Advancing Education

The ‘Shikshak Parv’ 2021 is a significant event organized by the Department of School Education & Literacy, set to take place from September 5 to September 17. This educational celebration is designed to honor the critical role that teachers play in society and to further the implementation of the National Education Policy, 2020. Commencing on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a revered educator and statesman, the event will underscore the pivotal contributions of educators in shaping the future of the nation.

Celebrating Educators: Shikshak Parv’s Core Objective

At the heart of Shikshak Parv is the intention to pay tribute to the dedication and hard work of teachers across the country. Teachers are the backbone of the educational system, and their efforts in nurturing young minds are invaluable. The event aims to bring to light the myriad ways in which educators contribute to society and how they can be supported through policy and innovation. By aligning with the National Education Policy, 2020, Shikshak Parv also seeks to foster an educational environment that is modern, research-oriented, and inclusive.

Prime Minister Modi’s Five Initiatives Launch

A highlight of this year’s Shikshak Parv will be the launch of five new initiatives by Prime Minister Modi, each aimed at enhancing the quality and accessibility of education in India. These initiatives represent a significant step towards realizing the goals set forth in the National Education Policy, 2020.

The first initiative is an Indian Sign Language dictionary comprising 10,000 words. This resource aims to standardize sign language usage across India, making education more accessible for the hearing impaired. The dictionary will serve as a valuable tool for educators, students, and the general public to facilitate better communication and understanding.

The second initiative, Talking Books, is designed to assist students with visual impairments. These audiobooks will enable visually challenged learners to access educational content more easily, ensuring that they have equal opportunities to succeed academically.

The School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (SQAAF) of CBSE is the third initiative to be launched. SQAAF will provide a set of standards for schools to aspire to and maintain, thereby improving the overall quality of education offered by institutions affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The fourth initiative is the NISTHA teachers’ training programme for NIPUN Bharat. NISTHA aims to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge necessary to implement the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) Bharat mission effectively. This program underscores the importance of foundational literacy and numeracy, which are critical for the cognitive development of children.

Finally, the Vidyanjali Portal will be introduced as a platform for facilitating contributions from education volunteers, donors, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives towards school development. This portal will streamline the process of giving, ensuring that resources are channeled efficiently to where they are needed most.

Implications for the Future of Education in India

Shikshak Parv 2021 is more than just a celebration; it is a forward-looking endeavor that sets the stage for transformative changes in the Indian education system. By recognizing the essential role of teachers and launching initiatives that support educational excellence and inclusivity, the event marks a step towards a brighter educational future for all students in India. The initiatives being launched reflect a commitment to leveraging technology, policy, and community engagement to build a robust and equitable education landscape that can cater to the diverse needs of the nation’s youth.
