More than 100 SkyStrikers were procured by the Indian Army using its emergency procurement powers. These drones are used for conducting military operations like Operation Bandar (Balakot Airstrike mission). They will be manufactured in Bengaluru through a joint venture by Alpha Design and Israeli-firm Elbit Security Systems.
SkyStriker is a cost-effective loitering munition used for long-range precise tactical strikes. It is highly capable of reconnaissance, survival and performance required by special forces to obtain direct-fire-precision capabilities. It is called a suicide drone because it crashes onto the target with explosives. It can independently locate, acquire and strike the operator-designated targets with a 5 kg warhead installed inside the fuselage.
