Peshwas

The Peshwas were the prime ministers of the Maratha Empire. They played a crucial role in administration and governance. The position emerged in the 18th century. Balaji Vishwanath was the first prominent Peshwa. The Peshwas expanded the empire significantly. They contributed to cultural and economic development. Their influence waned after the Third Anglo-Maratha War. The British eventually took control of India.
