Twaite shad

Twaite shad is a fish species found in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. This anadromous fish lives in the sea and migrates to the fresh waters to breed. Its population declined due excessive fishing, pollution and habitat loss. These fishes are going to be reintroduced into their historical breeding grounds in River Severn in the UK. This is part of the project called “The Unlocking The Severn”, which involves the reopening 150 miles of river for the fish.
