The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi has given approval for a Rs.2,029 crore Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) scheme. This scheme provides mobile coverage in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and two Assam districts – Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. It comes under the Comprehensive Telecom Development Plan for North Eastern Region. It seeks to deliver mobile coverage to 2,374 uncovered villages. It is expected to be completed by December 2022.
