UP Chief Minister Teachers Cashless Medical Scheme

On 8 July 2026 Uttar Pradesh launched the Chief Minister’s Teachers’ Cashless Medical Scheme to provide cashless medical cover to teachers, non-teaching staff and their families.

Scheme overview

  • Coverage limit: Cashless medical cover up to ₹5 lakh per beneficiary family.
  • Beneficiary scale: Covers more than 15 lakh teaching and non-teaching employees and their families.
  • Eligible categories: Regular teachers, Shiksha Mitras (para‑teachers), instructors, cooks and eligible staff of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.

Insurance partnership (SBI MoU)

  • MoU scope: Agreement with State Bank of India to provide social security cover for 10 lakh teachers and contractual employees.
  • Types of cover: Group term life insurance; personal accident insurance; air accident cover; benefits for children’s education and daughters’ marriage.
  • Personal accident sums: Contractual employees earning >₹10,000/month receive PA cover ₹30 lakh–₹80 lakh for permanent disability and ₹15 lakh–₹40 lakh for partial disability.

Operational features

  • Cashless access: Beneficiaries issued medical cards for cashless settlement at designated providers.
  • Implementing agency: Basic and Secondary Education Department, Uttar Pradesh.

  • Group term life insurance: Employer/group-sponsored life cover that pays the sum assured on the insured member’s death during policy term.
  • Personal accident insurance: Provides lump-sum for accidental death, permanent total disablement and graded sums for partial disablement as per policy schedule.
