US Army’s first CIO
Indian-American Dr Raj Iyer was appointed as the first Chief Information Officer for the US Army. This position was first created by the Pentagon in July 2020. This rank is equivalent to a three-star General. The CIO will supervise an annual budget of $16 billion for US Army’s IT operations as well as 15,000 civilian and military personnel. With this position, Dr Raj Iyer will direct the execution of policies and programmes to modernise the US Army to achieve technological advancements rivaling China and Russia.
