India’s Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is scheduled to visit Israel for the Second Global Summit on Blue Food Security in Eilat. The visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in fisheries, aquaculture, innovation, and the wider blue economy. It also reflects the growing strategic and economic engagement between India and Israel in food security and marine resource development.

Blue Food Security Summit

The summit, titled Sea the Future, focuses on sustainable use of aquatic food systems. It brings together policymakers, experts, and industry leaders to discuss how fisheries and aquaculture can support nutrition, livelihoods, and climate-resilient food systems. India’s participation marks its interest in expanding global cooperation in this sector.

Bilateral Cooperation Agenda

During the visit, discussions are expected to cover:

  • Policy alignment and institutional partnerships in fisheries.
  • Modern aquaculture technologies and sustainable fish production.
  • Research, capacity building, and innovation linkages.
  • Trade, investment, market access, and quality standards.
  • Joint research and development in advanced aquaculture.

Engagement with Israeli Institutions

The minister is also expected to meet Israeli counterparts and ministers from other participating countries. In addition, meetings with CEOs of major Israeli companies and start-ups are planned. These interactions are likely to focus on agriculture, fisheries, and aquaculture technologies. Visits to innovation hubs and key institutions will provide exposure to Israel’s technological ecosystem in these fields.

Significance for India

The visit is expected to support India’s blue economy goals by promoting sustainability, climate resilience, and food security. It may also open new pathways for cooperation in technology transfer, investment, and applied research. For India, stronger collaboration in fisheries and aquaculture can help improve productivity, exports, and long-term sectoral resilience.
