Yuva Sangam Phase-6

Yuva Sangam Phase-6

The “Yuva Sangam Phase-6 – Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” programme was inaugurated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati in Yerpedu, Tirupati district. Organized under the Union Ministry of Education, the 10-day event runs until May 27, 2026. It features a 47-member youth delegation from Pune, Maharashtra, visiting several cultural, historical, and developmental landmarks across Andhra Pradesh. The exchange initiative aims to deepen national integration and foster an experiential understanding of India’s cultural diversity. Key highlights of the itinerary include visits to Amaravati, Chandragiri Fort, various industrial establishments, and witnessing a satellite launch at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

Core Objectives and Implementation Framework

Flagship Youth Exchange

Yuva Sangam is a continuous youth exchange initiative under the broad umbrella of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) programme. Managed by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, it strengthens emotional bonds, establishes long-term connections, and celebrates national unity.

Whole-of-Government Approach

The execution of this multi-state initiative relies on cross-ministerial cooperation. Key stakeholders working alongside the Ministry of Education include:

  • Ministry of Home Affairs
  • Ministry of Tourism
  • Ministry of Culture
  • Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
  • Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports
  • Ministry of Railways
  • Various State Governments and Union Territory administrations.

Structural Pillars and Target Demographics

The 5 Pillars (5 Ps)

The exposure tours are strictly designed around five specific thematic areas to ensure a comprehensive learning experience:

  • Paryatan (Tourism): Exploring historical monuments, natural landforms, and tourism landmarks.
  • Parampara (Traditions): Understanding local culture, arts, crafts, music, culinary practices, and attire.
  • Pragati (Development): Observing modern development milestones, flagship governance schemes, and infrastructure projects.
  • Prodyogiki (Technology): Witnessing advancements in innovation, industrial capabilities, scientific research, and space technologies.
  • Paraspar Sampark (People-to-People Connect): Interacting directly with local communities, self-help groups (SHGs), startups, artisans, and youth icons.
Participant Eligibility Criteria

The selection framework targets a specific subset of the young population to ensure maximum grass-roots impact:

  • Age Bracket: Youth between 18 and 30 years.
  • Target Categories: Higher Education Institution (HEI) students, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) volunteers, and independent young professionals.
  • Mandatory Registration: Applicants must register via the official EBSB portals using their Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID.

National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 Alignment

The operational format of Yuva Sangam directly fulfills the core mandates of the National Education Policy 2020. By substituting classroom instruction with 5 to 7 days of on-field regional exposure, it integrates experiential learning into mainstream higher education. The structured interaction with diverse cultural zones helps students build cross-cultural competencies and civic responsibility.
