Amagarh Fort

Anagarh Fort is a fort in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The fort, in its present form, was developed in the 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II – the founder of Jaipur. It is believed that the fort was in place before Jai Singh’s regime. It was built by a Meena Sardar from Nadla gotra. The Meena community controlled large parts of Rajasthan until 1100 AD.
The Anagarh Fort is currently at the centre of a conflict between the tribal Meena community and local Hindu factions. Meenas are classified as scheduled tribe in Rajasthan. The fort consists of several of the tribe’s deities.
