Anti-Terrorism Day

Anti-Terrorism Day is observed each on May 21 to mark the death anniversary of the former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated in 1991 by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) while campaigning in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. This day is observed to spread the message of peace and humanity as well as unity amongst the diverse community. On this day, the government officials pledge to take all possible measures to combat terrorism.
