Delhi Shabdotsav 2026, a three-day literary and cultural festival, will be inaugurated at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. The event brings together writers, thinkers, speakers and cultural performers from across the country, making it public programme in the capital’s cultural calendar.
Festival Overview
Delhi Shabdotsav is being organised by the Delhi Government in collaboration with Suruchi Prakashan. The festival will run from January 2 to 4 and is designed as a large-scale platform for literature, ideas and performing arts. It will include more than 100 prominent speakers, over 40 book releases, six cultural performances and two poets’ meets.
Key Participants
The inaugural function will be held in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The event will also see participation from National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Sunil Ambekar, Manmohan Vaidya and Sachchidanand Joshi. Other dignitaries expected at the festival include Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma.
Programme Highlights
The festival will feature a mix of literary and cultural activities. Planned events include:
- Bharatnatyam and Kathak performances.
- Bhajan Sandhya.
- Kavi Sammelan and poets’ meets.
- Book launches and intellectual sessions.
Educational and Cultural Significance
Students from nearly 40 universities across Delhi-NCR are expected to take part. The festival aims to promote reading, public dialogue and cultural engagement. It also reflects the growing use of large public venues for literature festivals that combine academic discussion with traditional and contemporary art forms.
