e-Shram portal
The National Database for Unorganised Workers (NDUW) or e-Shram portal will be launched on August 26 by the Union Labour ministry. It will bring unorganized workers across India on a common platform. It is estimated that around 92 per cent of Indian workforce is unorganized, lacking social security and minimum wages.
The platform will provide single-point reference for the government authorities requiring information on workers in the informal sector and providing assistance during crisis situations. It will include construction workers, migrant workers, gig and platform workers, street vendors, domestic workers, agriculture laborers and others employed in unorganized sector.
