Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre

Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC) is an autonomous body under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. It was set up in 2015 to promote sign language research and training, especially for teachers and entrepreneurs.
On the occasion of the World Sign Language Day (September 23), the ISLRTC presented a documentary on “Indian Sign Language Journey”. During the event the digital format of the NCERT textbooks supporting sign language was released for Class I to V. This came as the result of an MoU between the ISLRTC and NCERT.
