International Day of Charity

International Day of Charity commemorates the death anniversary of Mother Teresa on September 5. Mother Teresa, famed for her philanthropic efforts, breathed her last on September 5, 1997. She founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, which has establishments across the world.
The International Day of Charity was officially declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012. The day is seen as a means to help bridge the gap between the rich and poor and also help economically weaker nations with financial assistance to meet the 2030 sustainable development goals.
