The first medal events on Friday will be the 5,000m races in both the men’s and women’s sections. The men’s 100m has attracted 79 entries, while 93 athletes are entered in the men’s 200m. The men’s 400m has 89 competitors. The women’s 100m has 37 entries.

Jharkhand sprinter Parth Singh will be among the athletes to watch in the men’s 100m. He will face competition from Odisha’s Partik Maharana. Odisha’s Bapi Hansda is set to return after injury, following a long break since the 2025 National Games in Uttarakhand. Kerala’s Mohammed Ashfaq, a rising quarter-miler, is also in the field and will aim to strengthen his case for Asian U20 selection.
